Hey guys,
I was the first member of the original CRN support team, recently I became the last remaining member of that support team and to-day(Friday 24 Nov 2006) I handed in my resignation to be effective on 22 Dec (in 4 weeks ) - Regards Maithri
Hello.. just a short piece,, hope you like the picture.. read on.... this is what I do when not at work.. all changes Monday but I plan to ride in the mornings before work.. am working a young horse.. yeah gods... there are so many jokes there I won't even begin to think of them.. :-)
Well, I was crossing over King St earlier this week and who should I spot running to cross George St on the other side but Gerry? I shouted across and we acknowledged each other. Not as good as having lunch at the pub with a beer, but you have to make do with what you can get.
Hey guys :) Sorry its been a while since I posted, but am currently jaunting around Thailand on something called a honeymoon :) The wedding/reception in Thailand was amazing - To those unmaried folk, if you want a stress free wedding, I highly recommend doing it at a resort! We found Anantara Resorts to be pretty good! We had a wedding planner who took care of EVERYTHING. That meant no stress to Josie or myself :) We arrived in Koh Samui on Monday, met with him on Tuesday morning and after our meeting we knew it was going to go like clockwork - this guy had everything under control for the Saturday wedding. I have attached a few pics of the wedding - the ceremony on the beach, just after the "you may now kiss the bride" as well as a group shot of everyone at the wedding - hopefully the girls can see Josie's wedding dress (I am told that what girls like to see?). I gotta say it was one of the best days of my life. Since then we have been to Krabi and just gotten off a boat (4 day dive trip) at some fantastic dive sites off Phuket. Now in Phuket for a few days to rest and recover before going to Hua Hin and finally Bangkok......we arrive back in Oz on the 24th and then its back to reality on Monday 27th where I start back as a permmie......Looking forward to the catch up on Dec 5 and I hope everyone is coping okies......am a bit behind on the blog but will be reading the previous entries :-)
Finally in all my busy-ness I have time do post a blog. (The dev server is being restarted, :P). Consulting has been what I expected it to be - hard and challenging, lots of opportunity for growth, and being scared as hell doing it. As some of you may know already on my 2nd day I was responsible for developing a training course for a version of our famous 'C' software I haven't even touched - and at that an advanced course. I started off thinking it was a doable challenge to 'prove' myself in the new role, however after a few days I quickly realised I didn't know much at all, upon which i quickly 'managed' the expectation and told the powers that be i simply could not do it nor be expected to, given that in running the course I would be in a situation of the 'blind leading the blind' - which would be a detriment to our company rep. To my surprise the upper-level powers were really understanding and concurred with my thoughts (phew!). Luckily for me the client had not signed the engagement anyway and so the plug was pulled on the dates of which I was to run the course (bigger phew!). The lesson I learnt - if you think that sh*t will start to hit the fan you'd better flag it as soon as you know, because if you don't and the fan ends up getting pelted with sh*t, you've got all the blame to take and no negotiating power to fall back on [Knowing a mentor who happened to be an executive coach whilst I was going through this was a big help :)].....most of you may think "that's easy everyone knows that's what you should do" - however when you're going through it and you've got pressure from all fronts, it's easier said than done.
and had a wondeful time I must say.. what a beautiful day. It won't last though.. only one more week before work. Thinking of riding, I thought you might enjoy this short clip.. how a good rider manages when something unexpected happens.. .. I should have watched this before I came off last year.. my jump wasn't as high but the horse did similar thing.. went in opposite direction to me ... oops... :-) Look carefully at the direction in which the rider is looking after he jumps the third jump... he is doing everything right but the horse has other ideas :-) enjoy.. have a good weekend.. Michael
